Retweeters helped our successful July
Ran a really exciting campaign on Nightingale Vale our pulpy killer thriller, if slightly short lived. Our recent free download resulted in our most successful sales yet for frees nearly 4,000 downloads resulting in a flurry of activity making us peak at 82 in the Top 100 for psychological thrillers in the States and resulting in a torrent of sales. This is interesting on a lot of levels. What made the campaign so successful, can it be repeated and how can we try to maintain the momentum. We would welcome the views of any authors who have run a similar campaign to see if there is a common theme that would enable the success to be maintained. We shall see. We are convinced that twitter friends had a big influence and the fact that our download got picked up by a facebook site called Books Direct. However, there is an element of mystery in why a download should suddenly just take off.
We think what made the campaign work was an early mid week posting and not targeting the beginning or end of the month.
one of the advantages was a surge in Amazon Prime downloads rhat pay quite reasonable royalties.
Two hundred flew off the shelves in the first few days and then slowed to a steady flow only tailing off in the latter part of this month. We we got over three weeks of exposure and still have mot dropped to below 100,000 in Amazln US which is a respectible level.
all the while we cross tweeted and picked up loads of retweets. pur exposure on Amazln can at times exceed 10,000 people. We have yet to be picked up by some of the big tweeters who have say over 50 thousand followers, but we find that they are mostly sporting or TV celebrities. Perhaps we need a cross you tube account.
always interested in others experiences in this area.
