Sweeneytwits Sweeney Todd is trending anyone know why? Possibly a new production on Broadway but we may be wrong. anyhow a few Sweeney facts. Todd is a fictional character and a barber, but do you know why barbers have a red ad white spinning pole in the front of their shops. .Well barbers apparently doubled as medics and the spinning wheel represents blood and bandages indicating that the barbers were also able to perform medical work Todd dispatched his victims by tipping them into a trap door from a reclining seat and his partner in crime Mrs Lovett disposed of the bodies in meat pies. He makes his first appearance we have discovered on the net on in a Victorian melodrama called String of Pearls. His shop was said to have been at 186 Fleet Street The barber has been portrayed in any films and plays the most memorable probably being Tim Burton's film starring Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter as the barber and his cohort.
